Makeup Revolution FFTB Review

After hearing about the Fortune Favours the Brave palette from Makeup Revolution in collaboration with British Beauty Blogger I just knew I had to have it. Luckily for me and for you if you're a fan of Makeup Revolution the palette was released early on the 14th March originally due for release on March 17th. I managed to purchase the palette on the day of realise towards midnight and felt super eager for my delivery to arrive, it took just under 7 days to get here and typically I was in the Isle of White when it finally did arrive but nevertheless it was here. The first parcel I received when I fetched it from the Post Office I had ordered 2 of the palettes and one of the shadows in one was almost shattered, massive thanks to Makeup Revolution who sent me out a replacement within a couple of days.

Fortune Favours the Brave consists of 30 eyeshadow shades at the price of just £9.99, slightly higher than your normal price for a Makeup Revolution palette but I think for this unique colab with the British Beauty Blogger it is well worth it. The shades vary from mattes, sheen and glimmer in this gorgeously golden packaging, something of the gold packaging just reminds me of Urban Decay Naked 2, I guess because that is the only other gold packaging I have in my beauty collection. I'm not overly sure on the tribal design on the front whether it is suppose to represent or mean anything but it does relate well to the name of the palette I guess so maybe that is the reasoning behind it.

Shade names starting from top left to right
First top line Glimmer, Buffer, Peachy Hope, Fortune, Skyline, Transformer and Midnight Rainbow
Second from the top Ice Cloud, Golden Coins, Cashmere, Tip Top, Yes Please, Green Machine and Smoothie
Third line Caffeine Fix, Latte, Pink Diamond, Creme, Drama Queen, Lonely Planet and Blacqua
Fourth line at the bottom Soft, New World, Favour, Sunset Hour, Super Gold, Winning, Brave and The Revolution

With all palette there are "hits" and "misses" and this is no exception to the rule in my case. This is not necessarily because they are of bad quality because they certainly aren't just some of the shadows in this palette don't do it for me but on the other hand there are ones I totally love and feel are unique to just this palette. My least favourite 3 shadows are Soft as when applied to the eye it can't really be seen due to my skin tone and I'll also probably stray away from Glimmer for the same reason and Creme, unfortunately the lighter nude shades just won't work well with my pale skin and will result in me looking rather washed out when applied. My favourite 3 although I have a hell of a lot more hits than misses, would have to be Golden Coins, Green Machine and Favour these glitter shadows are so pigmented it is unreal and typically for me I'm attracted to the more out there shades.
Swatches from the first top line starting with Glimmer ending in Midnight Rainbow

Overall I adore this palette and think that Makeup Revolution and the British Beauty Blogger did an excellent job creating it. I genuinely believe that it isn't like anything else available on the market at the moment and in away is unique that it was create by a blogger, so these two joining forces to collaborate was such a bonus for me. I really hope in the future we see more beauty brands collaborating with bloggers to bring out more one of pieces like this and as a support to bloggers out there.

Do you already own the Fortune Favours the Brave palette and what do you think of it? If not you could win the palette plus more here as part of my 400 Bloglovin' followers giveaway.

Replacing My GHD Straighteners...

I imagine like most of you out there if you are a hair straightening fan you probably use the world classic GHD's. After 10 years of being an avid GHD fan I've been trying out the **Diamond Hair Styler by Irresistible Me priced at $112, Irresistible Me specialises in hair extensions however I due to my hair being reasonably long and in quite good condition extensions have never really interested me.

The Diamond Hair Stylers really are something special and unlike any type of straighteners I've ever seen before with all of the features & parts that they have included and built in to them. The most beneficial features of the hair styles for me are the auto shut off, light weight tool and they are literally weightless, fast heat up, 360 cord and intelligent heat display but the straighteners also have diamond technology, dual voltage, far infrared technology, cool tips, ceramic technology, max temperature 230C/450F, tourmaline technology, silver nano material, eco, frizz free hair, 2.5m power cord, nano technology, dynamic alignment system, intelligent heat display, LED digital display and 1" floating heat plate wow there are so many features on these straighteners it is unbelievable.

The Diamond styling iron are classed as the "next-generation" smart iron providing intelligent Cº/ Fº intelligence that means the temperature display mode will alter into either Celsius or Fahrenheit depending on the voltage being supplied to the styling irons. They have a dynamic alignment system which means the advanced design feature can self adjust the plate pair to provide the perfect contact between your hair and the heat plates which prevents hair damage and allows you to style your hair at ease without pulling. The most impressive thing about these styling irons is that the turbo heat boost allows the temperature of the plates to go down by -40º F reducing the time needed to return to the optimal temperature to nearly zero so the tool stays at the constant selected temperature throughout styling.

After using the Diamond Hair Styler for over 1 week now I would say I'm converted to different hair tool rather than the GHD's and although I will always love them it is nice to try out something new and to have them be as good if not better with all of the features & parts included. My hair as you might have seen is of a reasonably normal thickness and with the hair styler it usually takes one to two passes of the tool to get my hair poker straight just how I like it as I have a natural wave to my hair and as I don't really like my hair curly or I don't believe it suits me I'm obsessed with straightening my hair at least 3 times a week maximum. As I've had such great results from using the Irresistible Me Diamond Styler I would certainly recommend this to other users of straightening irons and believe it would be ideal even for people with more unruly curly thick coarse hair as unlike GHD's that go to a maximum temperature of 185Cº the temperature on this tool is increased by 45Cº added extra to 230C.

Being a US product this does mean that the plug will come as a standard US plug pin so if you are purchasing from the United Kingdom you will need to get yourself an adapter converter which isn't a massive deal as you can buy them pretty cheap online or at your local electrical store I guess. The only one thing I would personally change about not necessarily the straightener but whilst using them is although they have a built in heat resistance cover it would be nice if they came with a heat protecting mat to place them on whilst in use so this doesn't result in any burn marks especially if like a lot of other people you place them on your carpet and lets be honest we have all heard a horror story of one of our friends burning their carpet or various furniture with straightening irons at some point. But overall I am really happy with this new straightening tool in my life and I will continue to use them each week, plus oddly enough I enjoy the smell of newly used straighteners how odd is that? One more thing to mention which really caught my eye with these Irresistible Me straighteners is the colour, I've never owned a pair of red flat irons before so when I opened up the package I was super excited by this, it's the little things in life that make us happy it would seem.

Do you use GHD's and do you think you could be converted to using a different type of straightening tool in the future? Please let me know, I honestly thought I would be a GHD girl forever but it would seem as though things might just be about to change.

**This product was sent to me to review on behalf of Irresistible Me this however has no impact on my review and all opinions are honest and my own

Veet Simple Hair Removal

If you're a lazy shaver like me then this product is pretty much the answer to all of your hairy leg prayers. This is the Veet In-Shower Hair Removal Cream with Aloe Vera & Vitamin E for Sensitive Skin available for £3.42. You apply first before you enter the shower, it says 2 minutes before but for myself it takes a little longer although it instructs not to leave the product on for over 10 minutes, the cream is applied with the coloured pink side of the dry sponge included. You apply all over the desired area you wish to remove your hair from and I personally find it does work better on longer hair rather than short regrowth but Veet instructs that it works on short hair but I guess it will work different on various people. Make sure that you wash your hands thoroughly after using the Veet Cream as you don't want to apply it to any unnecessary parts of your body that you don't want the hair removing from.

After about 5- 7 minutes once applying and stepping in the shower I then use the shower head and direct the water downwards to start removing the hairs. Whilst doing this I use the white side of the sponge to apply pressure on to the dissolved hairs to leave me with smooth skin. I find that this hair removal cream is ideal for my legs, arms and bikini line, it does say suitable for underarm but personally I still prefer to shave my under arms just as a preference and what I'm used to doing.

Since I started using the Veet Hair Removal Cream I have decided I'd much rather go to this than normal razor shaving. It of course doesn't come with any risk of nicks or cuts to my skin which is a must if I'm looking for those perfect night out on the town pins. I wouldn't say I'd noticed a reduction in the amount of time it took for my hairs to grow back or any difference in texture but then again who really measures the amount of time it takes for their body hair to grow back?

With the Spring/ Summer months coming up I would recommend this for hair removal, it's quick and easy and removes hair without any fuss leaving your legs, arms and bikini line smooth and stubble free. This Veet products also cuts down the time I would usually spend shaving as I just apply before jumping in the shower then whilst I'm washing my hair I can then after remove the cream from the chosen areas and I'm good to go.

What do you prefer for hair removal techniques waxing, shaving, hair removal creams, epilating? Please leave me a comment I'd be interested to hear what you do for hair removal and what products you use.

Makeup Revolution Beauty Haul #8

Makeup Revolution has to be one of my favourite brands period and just prior to the invite to the 2nd Birthday event which you can read about here I had an online shopping trip on the website. If you enjoy Makeup Revolution you'll know that they have had some fantastic new releases in the first 3 months of 2016 and at the moment us beauty fanatics are adoring their Shimmer Bricks, Fortune Favours the Brave with British Beauty Blogger  palette and the strobing products galore that they are offering. Plus can I just take a moment to mention that the Makeup Revolution packaging is on point with so much rose gold my eyes are becoming tinted.

Pro Illuminate £4.00 - Something to add that touch of highlight and brighten your skin to carry you through the Spring all the way to Autumn again. My obsession with highlighting products has grown out of this world since 2015 and now I can't get enough of over highlighting my cheekbones, I was never one for the contour my heart always belonged to highlighting those features.

Ultra Strobe Balm Hypnotic £5.00 - Another highlighting product, what did I just say? You can pick this up in two shades either Hypnotic or Euphoria. These strobe balms can be used both wet and dry and I find due to the creamy balm consistency work best when applied with the fingers. Hypnotic will add a nice sheen glow to your face, slightly lighter in shade than the Pro Illuminate which is a powder form but equally as beautiful.

Ultra Face Base Foundation FB 02 Pink Tone £3.00 - Just a simple, cheaper option to try out a new foundation. This is a BB cream foundation suitable for pink tones and claims to provide ultra long lasting makeup. I'm excited to use this foundation just to see what a cheaper option is like against my skin and because it is directed at people with pink undertones to their skin.

Ultra Strobe Cream £8.00 - I went a little highlighting strobe crazy but this strobe cream is ideal to apply before or after applying your foundation. Saying that I'll probably add it in to my foundation when applying just to eliminate more makeup applying processes, yes I'm lazy! I don't think it matters though as you'll still get the same highlighted glow effect and I think this product will really help brighten up my skin which I need after what seems like the longest Autumn/ Winter ever.
Top (Strobe Cream) Bottom (Foundation)

Awesome Metals Eye Foils Rose Gold £4.00 - Why would you not want this in you makeup collection is the question? It sounds awesome right, no pun intended. But wow the pigmentation of this rose gold eye foil is just out of this world. I wore it to the Makeup Revolution event to dazzle passers by and I love it. You also get a liquid primer and tray included to mix with the foil on to ensure that your dramatic eye look lasts all night long.

Focus & Fix Eye Primer Brighten £1.25 - I didn't seem to have an eye primer in my collection so I decided rather than splurge on an Urban Decay one I'd opted for a cheaper option and at £1.25 you can't go wrong. This matte eye primer holds on my shadow well and is crease proof throughout the day. Plus is works well with metallic shadows so if I don't want to mix my rose gold eye foil I can pop it on top of this primer and I'm good to go.

Inner Eye Brightener £2.50 - I've been enjoying adding a hint of something to my inner eye recently and usually apply a highlight from my Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette. Rather than to apply with a brush I thought it would be easier just to use a pencil stick applicator and then I spotted this nude eye brightener, can we just say sold. It is very nude as the name suggests so I might still add a touch of my highlighting palette or maybe my new strobe balm on top just to give a hint of shimmer to the under eye area.
Top (Eye Primer) Bottom (Eye Brightener)

Rose Gold Lipstick Chauffeur £3.00 - I'm not usually a big nude fan but when I spotted Chauffeur I just knew I had to have it. It has recently become available again online so I strongly advise you pick it up before it goes out of stock again as this one has proven to be the most popular out of the collection of 5. A typical everyday nude I think this one would be perfect for all skin types unlike the majority of nudes which I find can wash me out. You can either go for the sheen look with a sweep of colour or build it up for a more matte look with this creamy formula. A nice dupe for MAC Blankety I don't think you will be disappointed with this lipstick.

What do you think to Makeup Revolution, have you made any recent purchases

Revlon Ultimate All-In-One Mascara Review

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past couple of months you won't have failed to have noticed the new range of Revlon MascarasThis new range of mascaras has totally revamped what Revlon have to offer and you can now choose from the following 5 which would be supposedly the "perfect" mascara for you. The main focus with these mascaras is that it is all about the brush with each one having a different style applicator.

Ultimate All-In-One, Ultra Volume, Volume & Length Magnified, Super Length, Dramatic Definition

I decided that the ideal mascara from the set for me would be the Revlon Ultimate All-In-One Mascara £9.99 shade blackest black also available in blackened brown. This mascara focuses on giving you volume, length, definition, lift and intense colour to your lashes. The applicator with the All-In-One mascara is a small hollow oval shaped design making it easier to apply the formula and I would agree that if you are looking for a mascara that is easy to use then this one would be perfect for you, especially if you are just starting up your beauty collection I recommend this as a fail safe mascara that fully covers and lengthens your lashes. I think on first impressions people might be slightly put off by the design of the applicator a little like I was but I can assure you for me it worked really well adding volume to my lashes and the Revlon All-In-One is now fighting for the top spot in my mascara collection against Maybelline Lash Sensational.

Although it doesn't really concern me I have to point out that this mascara isn't waterproof but that really doesn't bother me. I would also say that although for me it works well at providing my lashes with length and volume it certainly does not give you that false lash effect that so many people are seeking to find in a mascara. If you are looking for something that gives a more dramatic fuller effect you might like to try out one of the other mascaras in the range potentially the Ultra Volume or Super Length mascaras. These would probably be more suitable if you have quite sparse lashes but if like me you have a more fuller lash I would recommend the All-In-One as your choice from this range.

Have you tried out any of the other mascaras from the Revlon range and what did you think of them? I'd love to hear your views on the All-In-One and any of the other mascaras in the range of 5 available.

Next Beauty Event

Hot off the press today as last night I went to the Next Beauty event held at the super Instagrammable venue Ice Tank in Covent Garden. Upon heading inside the venue I got chatting to the super gorgeous Danie, girl I don't know how you managed those heels all night but fair play to you, honestly the older I get the more the thought of putting on a pair of heels terrifies me. Being early birds to the venue we took the opportunity to head downstairs to try out some of the treatments available these included brow threading, makeovers and manicures all using the products from the Make Me Beautiful range.

Throughout the night we were treated to some lush tasting canapes and might I just add the beef stew with mash that I indulged in was incredible, in fact I'm disappointed in myself for not trying more but it was all about the beauty. Needless to say the drink were following and everybody was chatting and linking up with fellow lovers of makeup and snapping photographs like crazy with a cheeky cocktail in hand.

The flawless popular YouTuber Lydia Emillen who you can follow here gave us two beauty looks throughout the night one being more of a neutral look day look which she prefers and then the other full on glam with a red lip. I only managed to catch the first tutorial as I headed off after for a quick dinner and then my train ride home but wow Lydia gave some great tips and I think everybody is now lusting after that Highlighting Chubby Stick plus I can't even imagine how nervous she must have been having a room full of people staring at her, sorry girl.

Some Next Beauty facts for you about the range: -

- Designed and developed in the UK
- None of the products are tested on animals
- All nail varnishes are 3 for 2, £4 each
- All of the lip products contain natural plant waxes and oils to help lock in moisture
- Eye shadows, bronzers and and blushers are all baked formulas which means they set hard

What do you think about the Make Me Beautiful range from Next I'd love to hear your thoughts on it, do you think you might be making some Next beauty purchases? I'll be getting my hands on the Highlighting Chubby Stick, Blusher and Classic Red Lipstick soon I'm sure.

OGX Weightless Hydration Coconut Water Shampoo & Conditioner Review

To be totally honest it has been a while since I became truly excited to try out some new hair care products. But when I spotted the OGX Weightless Hydration Coconut Water Shampoo and Conditioner £6.99 each of 2 for £10 at Boots at the moment I knew instantly that I wanted to try them out. Well almost instantly you could say as the condition was sold out online when I planned on making a horrific Boots order, probably for the best I'm sure you're saying but as a result of this I went in to my local store and brought the shampoo & conditioner duo at the same time.

If you haven't heard of the OGX range available at Boots you should certainly check it out as they offer a wide range of different shampoos & conditioners for all varieties of hair types including Anti-Breakage Keratin Oil and Lemon Highlights along with other treatments, oils and mists to accompany your hair base products.
Now I know this sounds extremely random but my first initial impression of OGX products is that I really like the packaging. I know, I know it's just a shampoo and conditioner but with the range I got you can actually see how much product is left in the packaging and I'm sorry but I find it annoying when you can't tell how much shampoo you have left you run out you'll be like darn it, we've all been there?

These two products from the Coconut Water range are aimed at hydrating your hair and transforming those dry locks in to shiny flowing wonderful ones. As you would expect the products smell beautiful and give you those holiday vibes but for me it ends at that. I really had been looking forward to using this combo but after trying it out a few times it is just a shampoo & conditioner. It doesn't do anything special for my hair personally and although I wouldn't purchase this specific treatment for dry hair in the future I can't say that I wouldn't try out something else from the range.

Have you tried anything from the OGX range and what did you think of it? The real question is, is it worth £10 of mine or your money, for me at the moment it's a no and I'll just have stick to my more budget friendly products that I can throw in my trolley at the supermarket, sorry.

Makeup Revolution 2nd Birthday Event

If you follow me on Twitter you'll probably already know that I was fortunate enough on Thursday to be invited to Makeup Revolutions 2nd Birthday at the VIP luxury club Cafe de Paris in the centre of London's Piccadilly Circus. Makeup Revolution kindly allowed me to take on of my wonderful friend Nora along with me which I was very grateful for and with that on Thursday at 14:11 we hopped on a Virgin train from Coventry to London Euston.

After getting the underground to Piccadilly we arrived slightly early to the venue and not wanting to wait outside we took a trip to M&M World and then a walk through China Town, I wish we had of had more time as Nora had only visited London once before and we could of done a lot more sightseeing if we had booked a hotel but never mind there's always next time isn't there? We arrived just after 16:00 for the afternoon tea drop in session and this gave us time to look at some of the fantastic products on display and the chance to talk to the team, the focus was on each of the key brands including Makeup Revolution, Freedom, Colourless and I  Makeup.

The evening got in to full swing at 18:30 with a cocktail reception and the evenings presentations and announcements. Adam Minto the company Director started off the presentation with a heartfelt speak and I have to say after meeting him later in the night with some fellow bloggers he is so humble, kind and has time for everybody that he meets. We found out that we will be treated to Makeup Revolutions first ever collaboration palette developed with British Beauty Blogger Jane which will be released on the 17th March priced at £10 needless to say I need this in my life and you can read and see more here on the British Beauty Bloggers page I'm so excited to get my hands on this and will be ordering one for myself on the 17th March.

Makeup Revolution now also have there very own app available to download via the App Store and Google Play.

Daisie Smith followed by unveiling the #IAMFREEDOM competition which will be launching in April and will see 30 entrants compete through 3 challenges to earn a place in the live final taking place in London in September, this is sure to be the biggest competition of 2016 with 4 runners up taking away £1,000 and the winner receiving a massive £10,000, a year's supply of Freedon products and a 1 year partnership with the brand. I'm almost certain Superdrug mentioned that they will be matching the prize money you can check out more information here on the 1st April.

After all of the announcements and presentations the ultra trendy and friendly Scott Mills Radio 1 DJ got the party started. Can I just mention how lovely he was and so willing to pose for photographs with pretty much everybody at the party, I apologies Scott for making you impersonate a crab from your Strictly Come Dancing days but thank you for going along with it.

I have to give a massive shout out to some of the incredible girls that I met whilst at the party, it genuinely felt like we had known each other for a lot longer than a few hours and I'm hoping in the near future I'll get to meet up with them again soon so thank you Tania teabee, Orla Orla Roe, Naddy Just Miss Naddy and Megan who has just started up her own YT channel Megan Rhianne.

The fantastic treats we received at the end of the night included Colour On Semi-Permanent Hair Toner, Freedom Pro Studio strobe cream, Superdrug Shower Cream Dragonfruit & Vanilla, Solait 60 minute express tan, Superdrug LASH volume edition 21, Makeup Revolution Pro Hygiene Anti Bacterial Brush Cleaner, B. Pure Sensitive Micellar Cleansing Wipes (already using), Makeup Revolution Ultra Metals Ultra Contour Foundation, Rose Gold Lipstick Red Carpet and the Freedom Pro Artist Pad Black Arts

February Empties #5

This month I have for you a mixture of empties and a few beauty declutter products that I don't reach for due to them either not being in my shade or being too old to keep and use. With February being a slightly shorter month, literally by 1 day this year I feel like I haven't used up that many products although looking through my empties bag maybe I have but as always I could have done better. The issue that I have is that I've accumulated a lot of toiletries over the last couple of years and a lot of the time I don't reach for the products I've collected because I simply have my favourites or necessities that I always use religiously each month say for example shampoo and conditioner although I do like to mix it for you and try as many different styles of products each month.

Avon Bath & Body Soft Pink large Strawberry Sorbet

Close up of the L'Occitane Shower Oil and Ted Baker Bubble Bath

B. Radiant Rejuvenating Serum full size product / Avon Ideal Flawless Matte Mousse Foundation shade nude / Helen E Cover It shade 02 all declutter products out of my collection

Before my next empties I'd like to declutter my makeup and skincare/ body care products more thoroughly so I can give you a proper declutter post to do with my empties for March.
