What I Got For Christmas the Beauty Edition

With Christmas all done now and us being in that lull stage in between Christmas ending and New Year beginning I thought now would be the perfect time to show you what I got for Christmas. I have decided to just keep it beauty related and just include the make-up and skincare products that I received from my mum & step dad, uncle and my boyfriend Paul, plus Paul's dad and his partner. I'd just like to say a massive thank you to the people that brought me gifts this year, I love all my presents and feel very grateful to have such wonderful people in my life. I wanted to share this post with you all as the "What I got for Christmas" are some of my favourite posts to read on other peoples blogs, I hope you enjoy nosing at what I got and please feel free to link your post below.

Something that has become quite a Christmas gift receiving tradition is Soap & Glory. I have to say I was almost tempted to pick myself up the Whole Shebang when it was on offer at Boots as the star gift of the week. I'd previously brought the Soap and Glory mammoth gift set last year but decided not to this year and boy was I glad I didn't. Although not as large as the Whole Shebang the set I had includes all of the classics Clean on Me Shower Gel, The Scrub of your Life, Righteous Butter, Hand Food, Heel Genius and also included in the set was a shower scrub and a fluffy pair of pink cosy socks that have already graced my tootsies.

The next couple of sets I actually decided on myself as my mum tends to be a little wary of the things I like so she prefers it if I pick out my own presents and she adds in a couple of surprises on the day. I've tried a few L'occitane products in the past before so when I spotted this mini set containing 11 different products I knew I really wanted it. It's a great way to try out different products from a brand without forking out a large amount on one single product, lets be honest L'occitane can be on the more expensive side and the majority of the time I'm not prepared nor can I afford to spend £20 plus on a full size item just in the hope I might like it. Inside the set there are mini treats like shampoo & conditioner, shower oil, body lotion and super cute travel sized hand creams as well as more.

I'd previously spotted the brand Ole Henriksen on the Sephora website and after reading such great reviews about it when I spotted this collection I thought it would be the perfect potential gift. I'm almost certain the original price was £29 but we got a Black Friday discount deal reducing it to at least around £25 and this is such a bargain for all the products you get inside, 5 altogether in total. The set includes sheer transformation, pure truth melting cleanser, ultimate lift eye creme, ultimate lift eye gel and truth serum collagen booster.

The three products above had been on my wishlist to Paul for a while now and just in case he made any purchases I had to hold off and stay away from the make-up counter when I was out and about. Being the great boyfriend he is he picked up the things I'd been lusting after most the Naked Urban Decay Smoky Palette, the absolutely gorgeous NARS Steven Klein Vengeful dual-intensity blush and the Benefit blushing beauty kit. As you can see I was spoilt rotten by all of my family and Paul, I literally can not wait to try out all my new skincare and make-up products and to review them on my blog of course in the near future!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and remember to share your posts below.

November Empties #3

Long time no see on the empties front from me. I recently tweeted in the #bbloggers Sunday night about Favourites posts asking if readers enjoyed them and if they felt they are relevant anymore and the response came back a unanimous yes. The feedback I got was that people really enjoy seeing what others have used up and if they would re-purchase the item. So the empties posts are more seen as recommendation posts because if a product is good enough to repurchase then it becomes a recommendation to the rest of your readers and the beauty blogging community.

On a whole I really want to make this post more exciting and not continue to feature the same things every month. I'm trying my best to focus on using more beauty products to include them so it isn't just deodorants and shampoo bottles galore hopefully by next month I'll have some more interesting things to show you plus I need to get using stuff up to make way for some Christmas goodies **fingers crossed**.

Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Shampoo £3.99: - Herbal Essences will more than likely have a spot around my bathtub every month and this one is no exception. This particular shampoo is suitable for long hair and aims to strengthen your ends. I liked the pomegranate scent of the shampoo but I couldn't really tell any difference between this one and the many other Herbal Essences shampoos, I'll definitely pick up the shampoo and conditioner in the future but not necessarily this specific one.

Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel £3.95: - 100g various sizes available: - A Christmas staple in any Lush fanatics house I'm sure. Snow Fairy has to be one of iconic seasonal products that almost everyone wants to get their hands on before it is gone again, away for another year. I've repurchased this numerous times and will continue to do so just for that candy floss scented shower gel.

Batiste Dry Shampoo Bloom £3.29: - This time around I got a larger can of Batiste so I didn't run out so soon and I tried the Bloom scent, calypso orchid & pink freesia. Because I'd been wearing my hair up a lot for work I kind of forgot I had this and didn't really use it as much hence why it lasted me so long. The floral designed on the regular packaging attracted me to this particular Batiste this time around but overall I wouldn't say I could tell the difference in scents. Like Herbal Essences I'll buy this again but mainly for the brand so not particularly the Bloom fragrance.

Dove go fresh Grapefruit & Lemongrass Roll-on £2.39: - Just a basic underarm roll-on that I like to use before popping on my work uniform. Like my Right Guard Invisible Anti-Perspirant £1.43 and the Soft & Gentle Pink Grapefruit deodorant £2.75 they all do the job and I probably wouldn't hesitate to re-purchase them in the future or recommend it's just that they aren't very exciting and there are a lot of other products on the market that I would pick up as well as or instead off.

Victoria's Secret Fragrance Mists: - Finally I used all of my mists up after blogging about them all the way back in May, you can read my previous post review here. The 3 scents I got were Surfside limited edition, Total Attraction and Paradise limited edition. I keep meaning to go back to Victoria Secret to buy some more different scented mists as I really like these and they tend to be on offer if you buy so many. But after I've wondered around the Bullring of an evening I always feel to tired to walk up to the top to visit the store... super lazy I know but true. I'm going to make it my mission next time I visit Birmingham to go to the store first and buy some more fragrance mists!

Green Tea Peel Off Face Masque £1.00: - I absolutely love the 7th Heaven masques and without a doubt I'll be continuing to buy them and use them. I'm super excited that they are bringing out newer products now including the hair masques that I've tried and loved and also foot masques as well. I'm yet to try the foot masques yet but I cannot wait to try them out and see if they are as effective as the rest of the 7th Heaven range. Now I've started up doing my empties again I'm sure you'll see a lot of these masques feature in my posts and I may even just dedicate a whole post to the range and try out a few masques with mini reviews.

e.l.f. Studio Baked Highlighter £4.50: - One of my first ever highlighters was a one of the baked highlighters from e.l.f. I can't unfortunately tell you the shade or name as I've worn it out to the point of no return and all of the lettering on it has vanished a sign of good use I say. If I'm honest I thought e.f.l. had disappeared but lo and behold I've look online and the brand is available! I brought this highlighter around a year ago now when I was doing an online shopping spree on the eyeslipsface website. It gives a really nice glow to your face and I enjoyed applying it to the apples of my cheeks, my chin, sides of my nose and my cupid's bow. Although I really like the product and if it was more readily available on the high street I would purchase it again but since there are so many more different products on the market I would and I have opted for other things to try out.

Let me know if you've tried out any of the products featured in my November Empties and what you thought about them??

Sweater Weather Tag!

A big thank you from Louise Rose for tagging me to to take on the Sweater Weather tag. You can have a read of Louise's answers over on her page. I haven't done a tag in forever so it's nice to read what other beauty bloggers have wrote in response to the questions and also for me to write more about myself so you can learn more about me as a lot of the time general posts just simply don't do that and give readers an insight to the bloggers life... So here it goes.
1. Favourite candle scent?
Without a doubt I have to say Yankee Candles are my all time favourite brand of candle. At the moment I'm currently melting the Red Velvet wax tart on my Yankee tart warmer. Next up I have Merry Marshmallow to burn as I'm working my way through the Yankee Christmas scents.

2. Coffee, Tea or Hot Chocolate?
Shock horror I actually don't really like hot drinks and if I had to pick one I'd probably say coffee with cappuccino in particular from Costa.

3. What's the best fall memory you have?
Me and my mum always have festive outings around the fall time of year including the annual outing to the German Market in Birmingham and a trip to our local Garden Centre to get us in the festive mood. The fall and Christmas time for me are times when you have family traditions that you keep year on year and I love the feeling of getting closer to the big day (Christmas Day) by enjoying time with my family and friends.

4. Which trend do you prefer: dark lips or winged eye liner?
For me without a doubt it has to be dark lips.

5. Best fragrance for fall?
At the moment I'm enjoying Jimmy Choo Exotic, not exactly a fall fragrance but I don't really change out my scents for the fall I just wear whatever I like at the time. I'm hoping to get the Chanel Mademoiselle perfume for Christmas so I definitely be swapping that in.

6. Favourite Thanksgiving food?
Favourite Christmas food as we don't celebrate Thanksgiving errrrrrm difficult question turkey, pigs in blankets, parsnips, stuffing okay so a difficult question for me as I love all of the Christmas traditional foods apart from Christmas Pudding that is eww.

7. What is autumn weather like where you live?
Dark, cold and miserable to sum it up. I love winter when the leaves are falling and for the cold wrap up warm days but I'm not enjoying the dark mornings and nights, all I want to do it stay in my bed and keep warm and return back again in spring time when the weather warms up a little more.

8. Most warn sweater?
I'm a big fan of the sweater so have a collection that I alternate between throughout fall time. I'm so excited to rock my Star Wars Darth Vader Christmas jumper this year all throughout the month of December.

9. Must-have nail polish this fall?
Although I own my fair share of nail polish I just don't wear it. This is due to not being allowed to wear nail polish at work so on a whole I just don't bother. If I was off on a night out though I might either glitter up my nails or apply some false ones as I bite my nails so they're super short and don't really look that glamorous.

10. Football games or jumping in leaf piles?
Odd question but has to be jumping in leaf piles as I'm not a football fan.

11. Skinny jeans or leggings?
Leggings as they are so super comfy. Comfort is key in fall time so my perfect outfit consists of leggings and an over sized knitted jumper.

12. Combat boots or Ugg?
Uggs! I love my Uggs and have almost worn them out to the point of no return.

13. Is pumpkin spice worth the hype?
Like I said I'm not a massive fan of hot drinks so I've never tried a pumpkin spice drink. Maybe I will just to find out what all the hype is about.

14. Favourite fall TV show?
Usually I like to snuggle up throughout fall time and watch X Factor at the weekend and I'm a Celebrity all week through. I also enjoy Strictly Come Dancing but rarely watch it as I have bad BBC signal in my house for some reason.

15. What song really gets you into the fall spirit?
I've just recently brought Now That's What I Call Christmas. A whole Now C.D over 3 disks dedicated to Christmas songs and well if that doesn't get me into the spirit I don't know what will.

Thank you to Louise for tagging me in the Sweater Weather tag. I'd like to tag the lovely ClareOlivia and Nat and anybody else who would like to take part.

Beauty Haul #7

It genuinely feels like I haven't had a beauty splurge in forever, although I know that strictly isn't true since I made a recent Superdurg purchase... Nevertheless I'd heard from some fellow beauty bloggers that TK Maxx had some NARS products floating around so I had to pop in just on the off chance of picking something up. Whilst passing by TK Maxx I headed in to Boots purposely just for deodorant but of course I ended up coming out with more than I'd planned to.

TK Maxx price £5.99
Available from Argos W7 in the Night Eye Palette £7.49

TK Maxx Price £2.99 (RRP £4.99)
Sleek MakeUp Eye and Cheek Palette See You At Midnight available from Boots £9.99

TK Maxx Price £9.99
NARS Blue Bavaria Eyeshadow Compact single shadows usually range from around £18 from NARS retailer

TK Maxx Price £6.99 (RRP £40)
Stila Convertible Colour dual Lip & Cheek Cream available for (£16/32g)
Shades from top to bottom tulip, camellia and peony

Rimmel London Exaggerate Lip Liner  024 Red Diva £3.99 and Rimmel London The Only 1 Lipstick 200 It's a Keeper £6.99

I'm really happy with my beauty purchases as a whole and I managed to grab a NARS shadow from TK Maxx which was the reason behind this haul. I even got my hands on some Stila Lip & Cheek Cream that I cannot wait to try out as I've actually never owned any Stila products so I'll be keen to try them out and use them multi purposely both on the lips and to give a hint of colour to the cheeks I mean the tulip shade is just to die for it is so lush and definitely a winter shade. Over the next couple of weeks I'm going to try and put my new shadow palettes to good use and create some wintry looks, I'm in LOVE with the single NARS shadow in Blue Bavaria it is so gorgeous and totally something I would want to get my hands on even if at full price, the biggest reason I became drawn to it had to be that it has hints of green to it with green being my favourite colour. An exciting haul for me with products I'm sure you'll see featured over the coming months, I can't wait to try out more colours and experiment with these different brands.

Comic Con Birmingham 2015 #2

Saturday was the second time this year I've visited Comic Con in Birmingham at the National Exhibition Centre. This year there was a big hype around the up and coming Star Wars film released on December 17th The Force Awakens, we came across R2-D2, Chewacca, Darth Maul and an army of Stormtroopers to name but a few.

The last time I visited Comic Con was all the way back in March and I have to be honest with you I don't know whether it was with Christmas coming up and people wanting to buy presents but this time around it was so unbelievably busy almost to the point that you couldn't walk because of the crowds you just had to shuffle on through. Once we got inside the main hall after traipsing the mental railings back and fourth we decided to browse all of the stands then return again to make our purchases. The main reason for this was we didn't want to spend all of our money at once and then see something better although I did miss out on an opportunity to buy something at the beginning then when I returned it had gone but you win some you lose some.

I did enjoy my day but I do think that the Comic Con events can be slightly disappointing as in hindsight it is just a massive market place haul filled with nerdy merchandise. If this is what you're looking for then great as you can find something suitable for all tastes from Doctor Who to Batman to The Nightmare Before Christmas it's all available to buy at Comic Con. You do have the opportunity to do a meet and greet with celebrities although the majority of them are lesser known and like me you probably wouldn't want to pay to have your photo taken with them or a signed photo. Apart from the stalls and the meet & greets they have the Robot Wars arena, Transformers cars for photo opportunities and this time around they had the DeLorean Time Machine from the Back to the Future franchise, but again you had to pay a fee of £5 to have your photo taken inside the car. I think the main reason people attend Comic Con is really for the merchandise opportunities as it's a great chance to get your hands on some limited edition items and for the chance to dress up in cosplay, which is dressing up and pretending to be a fictional character usually that of a sci-fi, comic book or anime character.

Here's what me and Paul brought from Comic Con on Saturday, of course it goes without saying we had to pick up some Pop Vinyl figures along with everybody else at the event seriously people are obsessed with these.

The sun was shining in my eyes so badly I couldn't see

This might be might last Comic Con visit for awhile unless I can get over to the next London one next year in May. Hopefully you enjoyed this post as it is something a little different to what I usually feature on my page.

Christmas Buying Guide #2

With just under a month to go until Christmas I have the second installment of my buying guide featuring ideas for Mums, Dads and of course pets! After seeing the Coca-Cola advert I think it is safe to say Christmas has officially begun #holidaysarecoming so if you haven't started buying your Christmas gifts yet of getting in the festive mood you should start pretty soon.
Mum Christmas

Aren't these mummy Christmas picks just divine? They are all so beautiful and represent the special gift that mums actually are to us and they deserved to be treated, especially since for the majority of us they'll be cooking up a storm in the kitchen on December 25th!! Ted Baker this year seem to have totally upped their game and have some gorgeous pieces available, to my buying guide I've added the pretty Ted Baker compact mirror and the lush smelling Pink Body SoufflĂ©. For the party season why not treat your mum to the glittery Faith Silver Court Heels £45 from Debenhams and to match the Oversized Ombre Glitter Clutch £22 from Very.
Dad Wishlist

Dads, well I'm not to sure if you can relate but I always struggle to buy Christmas presents for my dad and my step dad but here are a few ideas that I hope will overcome your buyers block. Dads can be quite technical well some dads so I've included the Toshiba 32 inch HD TV at the bargain price of £199 from Argos. For the fail safe gift you can opt for either cufflinks, socks or aftershave all included above.
Pet Wishlist

Last but of course not least we have pets! I may have included more dog based products than any other because my mum has a dog and I'm a massive dog lover so they have my heart. Toys are always great for pets and I have to say the Christmas penguin holding the candy cane with the Santa's hat on it a favourite of mine. The yellow and green neon collars are perfect for those evening walks in the dark so your best friend can be seen from afar available from Pets at Home. After doing my research for my puppy dog purchases the best place around seems to be Pets at Home they have such a wonderful selection of Christmas items for dogs and I can't wait to spoil my mums little pooch this December.

Merry Christmas!!
